MOSCOW, December 20. /TASS/. The West is trying to set in motion the scenario of massive protests in Serbia, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"We see that for many years in Serbia, and also more broadly in the Balkans, the scenarios of public protests has been employed to impose the will of the West," Zakharova said at a news conference in comments on the rallies that took place in Serbia following the recent election in the country.

According to the diplomat, the West is bent on staging massive protests in the Balkans.

"It seems to me that any people of any country should defend their sovereignty at all levels," she said.
