Israel sabotages UN SC resolutions for decades on US tipping — Russian envoy to UN
Vasily Nebenzya went on to say that against this backdrop and amid the ongoing years-long blockade of Gaza "several generations of Gazans have grown up in complete isolation"
UNITED NATIONS, December 19. /TASS/. On the tipping of the United States, Israel has been sabotaging UN Security Council resolutions, underscoring the need to create the Palestinian state, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said.
"On the tipping of Washington, UNSC resolutions promising Palestinians a state have been sabotaged by Israel for decades against the backdrop of the illegal expansion of Israeli settlements and the confiscation of Palestinian land and property," he told a UN Security Council meeting on the Middle East and the Palestinian issue.
He went on to say that against this backdrop and amid the ongoing years-long blockade of Gaza "several generations of Gazans have grown up in complete isolation."
Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 after militants from the Gaza Strip-based radical Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise incursion on Israeli territory, killing many Israeli kibbutz residents living near the Gaza border and abducting more than 200 Israelis, including women, children and the elderly. Hamas described its attack as a response to Israeli authorities’ aggressive actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria, as well as a ground operation against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
