Shoigu reports completion of work to install fortifications along lines of defense

"Along the entire frontline, spanning over 2,000 kilometers, 3,000 strongholds, 45,000 trench shelters and over 150,000 covers for equipment have been set up," the minister reported

MOSCOW, December 19. /TASS/. Large-scale tasks, assigned by Russian President Vladimir Putin, to install fortifications on the lines of defense have been accomplished, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu reported.

"To enhance the defense capabilities of [Russian] battlegroups, on instructions from [the country’s] supreme commander-in-chief, large-scale tasks to install fortifications along the lines of defense have been completed," he said.

Also, 7,000 kilometers of minefields, 1.5 mln Piramida anti-tank obstacles, 2,000 kilometers of ditches and 12,000 reinforced concrete structures have been erected along the line of engagement, Shoigu added.
