The Russian leader also underscored the importance of the training fleet, noting that there was no way of doing without it

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. Russia's nuclear-powered icebreaker fleet is unique, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with the winners and mentors of the professional skills championship.

"No other country in the world has such vessels. Russia is the only country that has such a nuclear icebreaker fleet," he pointed out.

Putin underscored the importance of the training fleet, noting that there was no way of doing without it. He promised to have a word with experts in the field, and supported the idea of expanding the training fleet and complementing famous sailing ships, on which cadets are trained, with special vessels.

"I won’t tell you right away in what condition this fleet is at the moment. In all likelihood, this issue requires more attention, but it is an important issue, because it is related to the industrial base without any doubt," he added.

He promised to discuss the issue with the United Shipbuilding Corporation JSC and those who are engaged in training in this sphere.

"We need to analyze what we have and what needs to be done in the near future," Putin summed up.
