VIENNA, December 15. /TASS/. The Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has been re-connected to its only 330 kV back-up power line, which was lost in early December, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi said.

"Since yesterday, the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant once again has two alternative sources of external electricity. But we know only too well just how risky the power situation continues to be. Unfortunately, we can’t rule out more external power blackouts as long as this war continues," the IAEA quoted him as saying in its press statement.

The IAEA also said that its experts who are present at the ZNPP continue to hear the sounds of explosions in the vicinity of the facility.

On December 2, the ZNPP was disconnected from external power. It was the eighth complete electricity loss since February 2022. In the event of an external power loss, the plant is fed by its own diesel generators. Electricity is needed to cool the reactors and maintain other functions essential for nuclear safety. Later, the plant was connected to a single 750 kV line.
