Russian intelligence chief accuses West of plotting to destabilize CIS nations
"Western organizations, first of all, special services, are using all possible measures, including schemes to carry out so-called color revolutions," Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin said
MINSK, December 14. /TASS/. The United States and its Western allies are seeking to wreak havoc in CIS countries, Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin said.
"In assessing the global landscape, Washington and its allies see that the ground is gradually crumbling under their feet. They are losing their privileged position and in a bid to hold onto it they are interested in destabilizing the situation in various countries. They are seeking to use long-standing conflicts, smoldering conflicts, to get them going again, to wreak havoc in this or that country or a whole group of countries. The main attention of the Western bloc in this context is focused on the post-Soviet space," he said after the 19th meeting of CIS security and intelligence chiefs.
"It is no secret that the policy of the countries of the Western bloc toward countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States in general is becoming more and more aggressive I would rather say insolent," he said. "Western organizations, first of all, special services, are using all possible measures, including schemes to carry out so-called color revolutions."
According to Naryshkin, they are also using such techniques as "imposing radical ideologies and instigating conflicts on the basis of ethnic, cultural and religious differences." "It should be noted that the Anglo-Saxons don’t hesitate to enlist the services of ultra-nationalists, and even terrorists, unfortunately," he noted. "Our position is clear. We - the security and intelligence services of our countries - are called to defend the security of our citizens and our states from such phenomena.".
