Russia expresses concerns over OHCHR’s biased approach to Russia’s affairs

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin underscored the need for impartial fulfillment of OHCHR’s functions and for establishment of a constructive and respectful dialogue with the states on the entire spectrum of relevant international human rights agenda

MOSCOW, December 13. /TASS/. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin expressed his concern over the approach to the state of affairs in Russia and the situation in Ukraine during the meeting with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk.

"The sides had a frank conversation on a wide array of issues of operation of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). In particular, [the Russian side] stated its concerns over OHCHR’s politicized and biased approach to the coverage of the human rights situation in Russia, as well as the situation in Ukraine," the Ministry said.

In addition, Vershinin underscored the need for impartial fulfillment of OHCHR’s functions and for establishment of a constructive and respectful dialogue with the states on the entire spectrum of relevant international human rights agenda, the Russian Foreign Ministry noted.
