BANGKOK, December 13. /TASS/. The project of Russian Mir payment system implementation in Thailand faces difficulties, Russian Ambassador to Thailand Evgeny Tomikhin told reporters.

"My understanding is that the project is at a rather high readiness stage but there are known circumstances restraining its implementation. I hope participants in this project will understand indisputable advantages and upsides of Mir cards use by Russians in Thailand," the Ambassador said.

"Certainly, this will not merely increase the interest in this country but will also create significant advantages for our tourists. This could also facilitate an increase of trips from Thailand to Russia. We regularly raise this topic with our counterparts but as far as I am aware, this aspect is discussed in more detail through central banks," he added.
