Russian peacekeeper dies in road accident in Nagorno-Karabakh — Defense Ministry
The two injured peacekeepers were provided with necessary medical aid with involvement of the Azerbaijani side
MOSCOW, December 12. /TASS/. A Russian peacekeeper died in Nagorno-Karabakh on December 11 after a BTR-82 armored personnel carrier drove off a mountain road, the Russian Defense Ministry said in its information bulletin.
"On December 11, one Russian Armed Forces serviceman died and two sustained medium or severe injuries after a Russian peacekeeping contingent BTR-82 drove off a mountain road," the bulletin said.
The bulletin notes that the injured peacekeepers were provided with necessary medical aid with involvement of the Azerbaijani side. The injured servicemen have been delivered to a medical facility for further treatment via peacekeeping contingent’s aviation transport.
The document also says that Russian peacekeepers continue to perform their duties at 18 observation points in the Karabakh economic district of the Republic of Azerbaijan. No ceasefire violations have been registered in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
"A continuous interaction is being maintained with Baku in order to ensure security and uphold humanitarian law regarding civilian population," the Ministry said.
