Russia’s Constitution Day is marked every year on December 12
MOSCOW, December 12. /TASS/. The Constitution of the Russian Federation is the law of the land, with 10,503 laws having been adopted over 30 years, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin stated during his plenary meeting speech on the occasion of Constitution Day.
"The Constitution has become the basis of the modern legal system, which actually had to be created from scratch. Over 30 years, 10,503 federal constitutional and federal laws have been adopted. Among them are the civil, labor, family, tax, budget, criminal, land, and housing codes of the Russian Federation. Enormous work has been done over the years," Volodin said during his speech.
He added that some of today’s acting deputies were actually elected at the first convocation of the State Duma, in 1993. "They, more than anyone else, know the conditions under which they had to work at that time," Volodin stressed.
Russia’s Constitution Day is marked every year on December 12. It commemorates the day in 1993 when the current fundamental law of the country was adopted by popular vote.
