Russia plans on opening embassies in several African countries

ST. PETERSBURG, December 12. /TASS/. Russia plans on opening new embassies not only in Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso but also in other African countries, Vsevolod Tkachenko, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of Africa, told TASS.
"We are not planning on stopping [opening Russian embassies] only with Burkina Faso and Equatorial Guinea," he said on the sidelines of the International Congress "Africa Seeks Solutions" in St. Petersburg.
In August, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed instructions on resuming the operations of Russian embassies in Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso in 2023. Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned plans to reopen Russian embassies in Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso at a plenary session of the Russia-Africa summit. He stressed that it would become a real practical step on substantially activating work with African countries in political, business and humanitarian fields as well as in the spheres of culture and tourism.
