Danish envoy summoned to Russian MFA over ‘provocative statements’ in Danish media
According to the ministry, the Russian diplomats have pointed out to Danish Ambassador to Moscow Jakob Henningsen that his assessments of Russia's economy and legal foundations were unacceptable
MOSCOW, December 11. /TASS/. Danish Ambassador to Moscow Jacob Henningsen has been summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry over his ‘provocative statements’ in the Danish media on the activities of foreign companies in Russia, the Russian diplomats said in a statement.
"Danish Ambassador to Moscow Jacob Henningsen was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry in connection with his provocative statements in the Danish media on the activities of foreign companies in Russia," the ministry said.
According to the ministry, the Russian diplomats have pointed out to Danish Ambassador to Moscow Jakob Henningsen that his assessments of Russia's economy and legal foundations were unacceptable.
"It was noted that statements by the official representative of Denmark containing assessments of the Russian economy and legal foundations of our state are inadmissible and amount to Copenhagen's interference in Russia's internal affairs," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. "The ambassador's spreading of such speculations is a violation of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and contradicts the essence of the functions that the ambassador is supposed to perform in the host country," the Russian diplomats emphasized.
The ministry pointed out that "the main damage to the work of foreign companies in Russia, including Danish companies, is caused by the EU and US anti-Russian sanctions". "At the same time, entrepreneurs who have decided to continue their activities in our country enjoy the full support of the Russian authorities," the ministry stressed. "We assume that Mr. Henningsen will refrain from making similar statements from now on," the Russian diplomats concluded.
