Decision to end special operation to be taken only by Moscow — Australian expert
Tony Kevin pointed out that despite the abundance of Western propaganda, it is becoming increasingly obvious that "Russia has actually won this tragic war"
SYDNEY, December 6. /TASS/. Russia has learned not to trust American false peace promises. It remembers the treacherous Minsk peace process. This time Russia will be on guard, Australian international politics expert Tony Kevin believes.
"The fighting spirit of the Russians is excellent. The war will continue until the Russian National Security Council, headed by the Russian president, decides that it is safe for Russia to end the war," Kevin told TASS.
Kevin noted that Russia's main goal in launching the special military operation on February 24, 2022 was "to return Ukraine to the treaty-guaranteed neutrality between East and West that existed before the 2014 Maidan coup."
"Since 1991, Moscow's main goal has been to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO. Now that Russia is on the verge of decisively winning the war, it has no reason to risk or jeopardize that goal. Too many lives have been lost on both sides in this essentially fratricidal war, as Russia believes," the expert emphasized.
The Australian analyst pointed out that despite the abundance of Western propaganda, it is becoming increasingly obvious that "Russia has actually won this tragic war."
"It will not allow itself to be fooled by regime change in Kiev, manipulated by Washington and London, which is desperate to wring some diplomatic victory out of its military defeat in Ukraine," he concluded.
Tony Kevin began his diplomatic career in Moscow in 1969. He also served as Australia's ambassador to Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Cambodia. Since leaving the diplomatic service, he has devoted himself to the study of international politics. Kevin is the author of several books, including Return to Moscow (2017), in which he looks back on his years in Russia.
