Anti-Russian sanctions ineffective, but create problems for US businesses — ambassador
"Thousands of anti-Russian restrictions create serious problems for the US private sector. Firms and corporations are losing huge incomes from leaving the Russian market and abandoning our energy resources, as well as other goods," Anatoly Antonov said
WASHINGTON, December 6. /TASS/. The United States’ anti-Russian sanctions are not producing the desired effect, but create problems for US businesses, Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov said.
Commenting on the new sanctions imposed by the United States against citizens and companies from Russia and other countries, the ambassador said: "Sanctions do not work against Russia. The Russian economy is standing firmly on its feet and is developing. Any attempts to force us to change our policy are doomed to failure. These are obvious facts that all true professionals agree with."
"Thousands of anti-Russian restrictions create serious problems for the US private sector. Firms and corporations are losing huge incomes from leaving the Russian market and abandoning our energy resources, as well as other goods," he was quoted as saying on the Russian embassy’s official Telegram channel.
"In order to achieve its foreign policy goals, Washington, using the sanction bat, is actually sacrificing the interests of its allies - this time Belgium, Cyprus, the Netherlands and Germany. Doesn’t the US really understand that in this way it is sawing the dollar branch on which the American economy sits?" he added.
The US Department of the Treasury said it had added 13 individuals and 20 companies to its Russia and Belarus blacklists. Among the blacklisted individuals are citizens of Russia, Belarus, Belgium, the Netherlands and Sweden. The list of legal entities includes companies from Belarus, Cyprus, Belgium, the Netherlands and China.
