Expending funds "in Ukrainian money pit" increasingly difficult for Europeans — Kremlin
Dmitry Peskov added that Russia's economy adjusted to the conditions of the special military operation to ensure the required level for continuation
MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. Expending funds "in the Ukrainian money pit" is becoming increasingly difficult for Europeans, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
When commenting on the publication by the Financial Times newspaper on disagreement in the European Union on budget that threatens provision of 50 bln euro to Ukraine in accordance with the four-year aid program, he said: "This is probably the issue of Europeans themselves. It is clear that expending funds in the Ukrainian money pit is becoming increasingly difficult for them. As far as we are concerned the special military operation will continue, our economy has adjusted to the conditions of the special military operation and ensures the required level for continuation."
Financial Times said earlier citing officials involved in the discussions that EU member states "are far from reaching a deal over topping up the bloc’s joint budget — including €50 bln for Ukraine — ahead of a summit in Brussels on December 14-15." A budget agreement would be "very, very difficult", a senior official said. The 50 bln euro proposed by the EU is designed to keep Kyiv solvent to 2027.
