Russia sees sovereignty as freedom for its government and people — Putin
According to the head of state, the tradition of the Russian people is that a person cannot feel free "if his loved ones, his children, his Fatherland are not free"
SOCHI/MOSCOW, November 28. /TASS/. Russia sees its sovereignty as freedom of its government and people, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"What does sovereignty mean for our country, for every family, for every person? What is its meaning, its value, its real content? First of all, it is freedom: freedom for Russia and for our people, and therefore for each of us," he said in a speech to the Worldwide Russian People's Assembly via video link.
He said the tradition of the Russian people is that a person cannot feel free "if his loved ones, his children, his Fatherland are not free."
"This is the kind of true freedom that our boys, our men, soldiers and officers, daughters of the Fatherland are now defending," the president said, referring to participants in Russia's special military operation in Ukraine.
"[This is] a free people that understands its responsibility to the present day and future generations. The only source of power. Sovereign power, which is designed to serve each person, the entire nation, and not to serve, of course, someone's private, corporate, class, and even more so, foreign interests," he continued.
Putin stated that sovereign development in the national interest is built first of all around the aspiration of each person to benefit the country, society and people, and Russia supports this aspiration.
