US ramping up efforts at fomenting unrest, regime change in Russia — Russian diplomat
According to Sergey Ryabkov, a scenario of confrontation between Moscow and Washington has become "a certainty that must be taken into account"
MOSCOW, November 28. /TASS/. The US is demonstrating even greater determination to pursue a Russia policy ultimately aimed at effecting regime change in Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said.
"Not only has the US unleashed a hybrid war against Russia, which by all indications it is likely to pursue down to the last Ukrainian, with the unwavering goal of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia, but it is also demonstrating even greater determination to effect regime change here and foment domestic chaos and unrest in Russia," the senior diplomat noted.
According to him, a scenario of confrontation between Moscow and Washington has become "a certainty that must be taken into account." Ryabkov said there is a distinct possibility that further escalation fueled by the US could potentially lead to the severing of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
"Given Washington’s approach, the range of choices is not that wide. The negative scenario includes rising tensions, up to the severing of what is an already extremely frayed bilateral relationship (on the diplomatic track). Or, a less dramatic option wherein [Western] attempts to ensure the complete containment of Russia and China will be accompanied by some form of dialogue in combination with active attempts to provoke rifts within the global majority, which is reluctant to accept the West’s [so-called] rules-based world order," the Russian deputy foreign minister explained.
"Ryabkov added that he could not "predict which of these trends may prevail" in US foreign policy."
