Putin received reports on weather disasters in Russia’s regions, Kremlin Spokesman says
Dmitry Peskov specified that the Russian president had phone calls with Head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov and various agencies
MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin received reports on weather disasters in numerous regions of Russia and gave orders on elimination of the aftermath, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"This morning, [Putin] received reports on the weather disasters that occurred in various regions of our country: in Crimea, in Sevastopol, in the Krasnodar Region, in the Far East," he said.
Peskov noted that Putin had phone calls with Head of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov and various agencies.
"After that, the president ordered the government to treat this situation carefully, to find out what help is required and to take measures to aid the region in elimination of the aftermath," Peskov added.
According to the spokesman, other Putin’s meetings will not be public.
A state of emergency has been introduced in some parts of Crimea: many settlements are without power, some gas pipelines are damaged. A strong storm floods Yevpatoria’s coastal districts, people are being evacuated from flooded houses.
Train service in the coastal area of the Krasnodar Region has been suspended, with about 50 passenger trains delayed because of the weather. A bulk carrier under the flag of Belize got stranded near Anapa; the crew was not injured. Some 100,000 residents of the Rostov Region are now without electric power because of power grid failures.
