Russia can not stand for West’s attempts to prosper at expense of others — Lavrov
"Like the overwhelming majority of countries across the world, Russia is certainly not ready to accept such plans and will not do that," the top Russian diplomat stressed
MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. The West seeks to preserve its dominance and prosper at the expense of others but this doesn’t sit well with most countries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
"The West is trying hard to preserve what’s left of its dominance, using blatantly neocolonial methods that the global majority rejects," Lavrov pointed out at the Primakov Readings forum. "The goal of our Western colleagues is simple and cynical at the same time: to continue skimming the cream off global politics, economy and trade, ensuring their own prosperity at the expense of others," he added.
"Like the overwhelming majority of countries across the world, Russia is certainly not ready to accept such plans and will not do that," the top Russian diplomat stressed.
The minister recalled that "the US and its European allies use a wide range of tools of geopolitical engineering." "Among them is provoking conflicts as well - we see this all along the perimeter of Russia's borders - and conducting information and psychological operations, launching trade and economic wars," Lavrov outlined.
"The operation of the WTO has been blocked — first and foremost, its dispute resolution body — by the westerners’ hands. The fundamental legal foundations of global economic ties, such as free competition and the inviolability of property, have been dismantled," the minister added.
The 9th Primakov Readings international forum is being held in Moscow from November 27 to 28. TASS is the general information partner of the Primakov Readings international forum and conference.
