Era of Western dominance in world affairs coming to end, Russian presidential aide says
Yury Ushakov stated that he was referring to those countries that account for the bulk of the global economy and the overwhelming majority of the population of the planet
MOSCOW, November 27. /TASS/. The era of Western dominance over world affairs, which began some 500-600 years ago with the Age of Discovery, is now coming to an end, Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov said with confidence, addressing the Primakov Readings international forum.
"The very emergence of this phenomenon [of ‘a global majority’] shows that the era of Western dominance in global politics that has lasted since the Age of Discovery is now coming to an end, as the world progresses away from a Western-centric [paradigm] toward multipolarity," Ushakov said.
The Kremlin aide stated that he was referring to those countries that account for the bulk of the global economy and the overwhelming majority of the population of the planet. "The global majority and its growing role internationally actually embody that very model of a non-bloc-based, multipolar and multi-civilizational world for which Russia has made clear its absolute preference," Ushakov said.
He also lauded Russia’s efforts toward establishing a new global order as he said that the country has been acting as the driving force of what he called an objective process.
