Russia's new energy strategy until 2050 may be approved in March 2024

KEMEROVO, November 22. /TASS/. The Energy Ministry plans to approve Russia’s new energy strategy until 2050 in March 2024, according to the presentation Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin made at a meeting of the State Council’s working group on energy in Kemerovo.
The text of the document should be prepared in November 2023 and be approved within the Energy Ministry. In December, it will be sent for approval to federal executive authorities, companies and expert organizations. After that, the document will be finalized taking into account comments.
The energy strategy will be sent to the Russian government for approval in January - February 2024.
The current version of Russia’s energy strategy until 2050 assumes that the growth in energy consumption in the world will be about 28%, mainly in countries friendly to Russia.
"If current trends continue (under the business-as-usual scenario), global energy consumption will grow by 28% by 2050, in line with economic growth and meeting the energy needs of a growing population," according to the presentation.
