"This is the first good news from Gaza in a very long time," Dmitry Peskov noted

MOSCOW, November 22. /TASS/. The Kremlin sees the Israel-Hamas agreement cease fire and release hostages as a positive development, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

When asked about Moscow’s attitude to the agreement, he said: "[It’s] positive." "This is the first good news from Gaza in a very long time," Peskov added.

The Kremlin spokesman pointed out that Russia and most other countries had called for a ceasefire. "The reason is that such pauses are what can help outline future efforts to find a sustainable solution to the issue," Peskov said.

Earlier, the radical movement Hamas announced that an agreement on a four-day humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip had been reached through the mediation of Qatar and Egypt. The movement confirmed that the agreement stipulated the release of 50 women and children under the age of 19 who are held in Gaza in exchange for the release of 150 women and children under the age of 19 from Israeli prisons.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said that the country’s government had approved a plan to bring back at least 50 hostages and implement a four-day humanitarian pause, after which Israel would resume its military operation in the enclave. Israel will suspend military activities for a day in exchange for the release of a group of ten hostages, Netanyahu’s office added.

According to Israel, over 200 people remain in militant captivity.
