Russia is expected to hold its presidential election on March 17, 2024

MOSCOW, November 17. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed his hope that Russian President Vladimir Putin will run for reelection and win.

"Putin has not yet announced his intention to run for reelection. But I sincerely want to believe that he will do so. And I have no doubt that he will win the election and continue to be our president. We’ll see," Peskov said in an interview with the student news channel MGIMO 360.

Russia is expected to hold its presidential election on March 17, 2024. The Federation Council (the upper house of parliament) will make a decision on the date of the election in December 2023. After that, political parties will need to hold pre-election congresses and nominate their candidates. Putin has the right to seek another term in office but he has not clarified his decision yet.
