Russia to thrive over next decade as West hangs on to dominance for dear life — Kremlin
According to Dmitry Peskov, "the West will claw and scratch in an effort to hold onto its waning dominance"
MOSCOW, November 17. /TASS/. Global turmoil will likely grow in the coming decade as the West tries with all its might to hold onto its fading dominance, but Russia will only become healthier, wealthier and wiser over this period, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"If the period of global transformation that we are going through drags on, the situation will become more turbulent. The reason is because the West will claw and scratch in an effort to hold onto its waning dominance; and we know how cynical they are, as they will stop at nothing not to lose their dominance, which is fraught with various risks," he told the MGIMO 360 student news outlet, when asked what the world and Russia would be like in ten years.
As for Russia, the presidential press secretary said: "It should and will be stronger, wiser and wealthier."
Peskov pointed out, however, that no one could say exactly what the world would be like in ten years as no one could have imagined ten years ago that the world would be where it is today. "It is hard to make predictions, both in the political and economic fields," the Kremlin spokesman said.
MGIMO 360 is a student information channel hosted by the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Moscow State Institute of International Relations (university). The outlet covers student activities at MGIMO and beyond, creates entertainment content on various topics and publishes interviews. Since May 2021, its correspondents have been covering Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s working visits as part of the Foreign Ministry's pool of journalists.
