According to Dmitry Peskov, "in case of formalization of unfriendly steps a possible response will follow"

MOSCOW, November 16. /TASS/. The Kremlin does not rule out retaliatory steps following Prague's sanctions against the Russian state-owned property, Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has told the media.

"It is necessary to analyze what the Czechs have here and so on," Peskov said when asked whether Moscow would respond to Prague's actions.

"Of course, in case of formalization of unfriendly steps a possible response will follow," Peskov said.

The federal state unitary agency for managing Russia’s state property in other countries (part of the Russian presidential property management directorate) governs many Russian-owned real estate facilities in the Czech Republic. All these properties have now been included in the sanction list and frozen.

The Czech Republic became the first country to freeze Russian foreign real estate, mainly located in Prague and Karlovy Vary (the west of the Czech Republic). The Russian agency can no longer perform any transactions involving them, in particular, to receive the rent from tenants, who are now expected to deposit it to a special bank account that Russia is unable to access. This measure applies to dozens of apartments. The Czech authorities’ decision does not apply to the facilities of the Russian embassy being used in diplomatic activities.
