Lavrov says US ready only for humanitarian pause with respect to Palestine, Israel
The Russian Foreign Minister also pointed to the absence of "commitments to do anything else"
MOSCOW, November 15. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said in an interview with RT television that Washington is ready only for a humanitarian pause in the conflict between Palestine and Israel.
"It seems that the United States is now not ready for anything but the option of a humanitarian pause without any commitments to do anything else," he said.
The situation in the Middle East sharply escalated following an incursion of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel on October 7, accompanied by killings of residents of Israeli settlements near the border and taking more than 200 hostages, including children, women and elderly people. Hamas has cast the attack as a response to Israeli actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel has declared a complete siege of the Gaza Strip and has started delivering strikes on that area, which were followed by a full military operation. Strikes also target parts of Lebanon and Syria in retaliation for bombardments of Israeli territory. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
