Kremlin urges Denmark, EU to observe international navigation rules
It was reported earlier that Denmark was going to inspect and detain if necessary tankers with Russian oil that navigate through Danish channels as part of new plans of Brussels to control seaborne deliveries of such oil
MOSCOW, November 15. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov called to abide by international mercantile shipping rules in a comment on Denmark’s plans to detain tankers carrying Russian oil.
Denmark is going to inspect and detain if necessary tankers with Russian oil that navigate through Danish channels as part of new plans of Brussels to control seaborne deliveries of such oil, The Financial Times reported earlier, citing persons familiar with new Brussels’ measures.
The Kremlin "does not possess such information" at the moment and suggested approaching the Russian Transport Ministry, Peskov said. "On the other part, everybody should be warned in advance in this regard about the need to comply with all the rules of international mercantile shipping," the presidential press secretary said.
"Let’s wait for some substantial information and then discourse upon what can be done," Peskov added, responding to a question what measures Moscow can take if such restrictions by Copenhagen come into force.
