Russia to monitor Biden-Xi meeting in San Francisco — Kremlin
"Any such meeting of the world's two largest economies is important for everyone," Dmitry Peskov noted
MOSCOW, November 15. /TASS/. Russia will follow the reports about the meeting of US President Joe Biden and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in San Francisco, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"The two countries are building bilateral relations, that is their right. This is not an issue that is widely on our agenda. But, of course, any such meeting of the world's two largest economies is important for everyone. So, one way or another, of course, we will follow the reports coming from this meeting," the Kremlin spokesman said when asked to comment on expectations from the meeting.
The Biden-Xi talks in San Francisco will be the leaders' seventh contact since the latter took office as US president, but only their second face-to-face meeting. It will be Xi's first visit to the US in six years. The APEC summit will take place on November 15-17, and the Russian delegation will be led by Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk.
