Governor denies reports of sabotage group infiltrating Russia’s Belgorod Region
"This is more fake news," the governor said at a meeting with regional officials
MOSCOW, November 13. /TASS/. Governor of Russia’s Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov has denied reports posted on some Telegram channels that a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group tried to infiltrate the region.
"A news website is trying to hype up reports that the situation was tense in our border area near Shebekino last night <...>. This is more fake news," Gladkov said at a meeting with regional officials.
Several Telegram channels reported on Monday morning that a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group had tried to infiltrate the Belgorod Region near the town of Shebekino. Russian troops fought off the group, which was allegedly traveling in a car with the letter Z painted on it.
At the meeting, Gladkov addressed an official from the Shebekino District who denied reports about a sabotage group. The Belgorod Region governor noted that Telegram channels spreading fake news were simply seeking to increase their audience.
