Damage from Kakhovka hydro plant dam collapse stands at $5.1 bln — Kherson Region official
The incident resulted in a death toll of 57, while 175 individuals were hospitalized
ROSTOV-ON-DON, November 9. /TASS/. Damage caused by the destruction of the dam at the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Plant by Ukrainian missiles amounted to 468 bln rubles ($5.1 bln), Kherson Region deputy head Alexander Vetrov said at the first Russia-wide Dokuchaev Conference.
"As you know, the tragedy occurred on June 6 and the damage inflicted on the Kherson Region, according to estimates by the Russian Natural Resources Ministry, totaled 468 bln rubles," he said.
The Ukrainian armed forces delivered a missile strike against the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Plant in the morning on June 6, resulting in the destruction and collapse of dam valves and an uncontrollable discharge of water from the Kakhovka Reservoir on the Dnieper River. The incident resulted in a death toll of 57, while 175 individuals were hospitalized.
