MOSCOW, November 9. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto will hold talks on November 16, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing.
"On November 16, the Russian foreign minister will hold talks with the foreign minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela," she said. "The foreign ministers will discuss ways to strengthen multifaceted cooperation and strategic partnership between Russia and Venezuela on a long-term basis."
According to Zakharova, based on the results of the high-level Russian-Venezuelan Intergovernmental Commission meeting held in Moscow on October 16, the ministerial-level talks will outline further steps to "expand mutually beneficial ties in the trade and economic, scientific, technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres, building a model of cooperation that is resistant to illegal, unilateral coercive measures."
The ministers will also exchange views on topical international and regional issues and cooperation within the UN, including interaction within the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the UN and other multilateral forums, the diplomat said.
"Russia and Venezuela advocate for the formation of a new, fairer world order, for respect by all countries for the norms of international law. We are talking about the principles of protection of national sovereignty and non-interference in internal affairs," Zakharova emphasized. "Russia continues to provide multifaceted support for the government and people of Venezuela in protecting their right to choose their own path of development, including as a country accompanying the inter-Venezuelan dialogue."
