"Those steps have resulted in historically developed supply chains being broken, global energy flows being expensively redistributed, and transaction, logistical costs rising," the foreign minister said

MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. Putting Russian energy resources under boycott and the Russian oil price cap have hit global energy security hard, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, adding that those are the West’s major mistakes.

"The Russian energy boycott that has been announced, unilateral sanctions and anti-business measures, I mean, in particular, the much-speculated price cap, have hit the global energy security hard. Those steps have resulted in historically developed supply chains being broken, global energy flows being expensively redistributed, and transaction, logistical costs rising," he said at a roundtable on ways to resolve the Ukrainian issue.

"Those major macroeconomic mistakes were also followed by such events as terrorist attacks against North Stream-1 and Nord Stream-2 in the Baltic Sea," Lavrov added.

The US together with its Western satellites tried to represent the case after the beginning of the special military operation as if it was Russia that precipitated the global energy crisis, the minister said. "However, professionals know very well that it's another lie as well. In fact, negative developments in the energy sector were triggered by irresponsible actions by the collective West when it decided to expedite, as I have already said, the green transition at home and force the same green transition on other countries, which were simply unready for it economically, and when the West decided to cut investment in the oil and gas sector sharply within the framework of this green transition and abandon the use of traditional fuel types," he explained.
