"The politicized approaches of Washington, London and Brussels have made senseless not only their activities, but the work of a number of bodies of the UN system," Nikolay Patrushev emphasized

MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. The actions by the UK, the US and the European Union devalue the work of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), the Council of Europe, as well as some UN bodies, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev said.

"Today we see that many international formats established for coordinating the efforts of the global society and preventing conflicts, such as the OSCE and the Council of Europe, are devaluing and losing influence swiftly. The politicized approaches of Washington, London and Brussels <…> have made senseless not only their activities, but the work of a number of bodies of the UN system," he said at a meeting with CIS counterparts.

Moldova has made renunciation of sovereignty its policy and risks to fall another victim of the Western colonial policy, Patrushev warned. "Moldova’s leadership under the West’s pressure <…> has made joining the EU, <…> renunciation of sovereignty and national identity its policy. In fact, Moldova risks to become another victim of the West’s colonial policy," he said.

The settlement between Azerbaijan and Armenia is only possible when extraregional forces stop interfering into the conflict, whereas the West’s current steps only worsen the situation, Patrushev noted. "We are also interested in stabilization of the situation in the region of South Caucasus, the creation of conditions for its development and strengthening of mutual confidence and cooperation," he said. For doing this, Russia has been consistently taking steps on comprehensive normalization of the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan for the interests of concluding a peace treaty between those countries, boundary delimitation, the opening of transport communications," Patrushev added. "The practice shows that it is only possible in the event of extraregional forces not interfering. The actions by Western countries instigate degradation of the environment in the region and facilitates maintenance of confrontation in it," he stressed.
