XI'AN /China/, November 7. /TASS/. In today’s rapidly changing environment, it is necessary to get on the same page with Iran on international platforms, said Russian Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov.

"Rapidly changing developments in the world require us to synchronize positions at various international venues," Russia’s chief prosecutor said at a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Movahedi-Azad. According to Krasnov, the bilateral working group on fighting crime has met twice this year, with plans to hold another meeting next March.

The Russian prosecutor general expressed the hope that a memo of understanding between related education institutions will be formulated shortly as he proposed launching a program of mutual visits for advanced training of prosecutors as soon as possible.

Also, under the program of cooperation between the two countries’ prosecutor general’s offices for 2023-2025, Tehran should host a roundtable on fighting extremism and terrorism, including in information and communication networks, as well as cybercrime and the unlawful use of digital currencies, later this year.

"As soon as the Iranian side coordinates an acceptable date, we will be ready to send our experts to Iran to exchange best practices in the sphere," Krasnov added, saying that quite enough competence was currently available.

Xi’an hosts the 21st Meeting of Prosecutors General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States on November 8. On Tuesday, Krasnov is holding bilateral meetings.
