Austria given up neutrality in Ukrainian conflict, Russian ambassador to Vienna says
Dmitry Lyubinsky stated that the Austrian "government and the head of the country chose an unambiguous side"
VIENNA, November 3. /TASS/. Austria has abandoned the policy of neutrality in the Ukrainian conflict and refuses to contribute to a possible settlement, Russian Ambassador to Austria Dmitry Lyubinsky said.
"In the Ukrainian conflict, but not only in it, the [Austrian] government and the head of the country chose an unambiguous side and automatically took themselves out of the game," the diplomat told the Oberosterreichische Nachrichten newspaper in an interview.
According to him, the Austrian policy of active neutrality is long gone.
Austrian authorities have repeatedly stated that the country adheres to military neutrality, which implies refusal to participate in armed conflicts and supply weapons to other countries. At the same time, Vienna emphasizes that its neutrality is not political and declares full solidarity with Ukraine.
