FACTBOX: US expands anti-Russian sanctions

WASHINGTON, November 2. /TASS/. The US has expanded the anti-Russian sanction list, according to the document released by the Treasury Department.
The list was complemented with 37 individuals and almost 200 legal entities, including banks and industrial plants.
New sanctions target the Russian defense industry and entities supporting it. Inclusion into the sanction list means the asset freeze in the US and the ban for US nationals and companies to do business with persons in the list.
Key figures in the sanction list are indicated below.
Defense industry
- Restrictive measures were introduced against the military construction sector of the Russian Defense Ministry.
- Sanctions were imposed on one of designers of the Lancet drone Alexander Zakharov and his family members.
Business
- Sistema Holding and Sistema SmartTech venture fund were included into the SDN list together with Arctic LNG 2, research and technology center of Gazprom Neft, Gazprom Neft Catalytic Systems, AEON Corporation, and other companies.
Finance
- Several Russian banks were hit by sanctions, including Post Bank, Russian Standard Bank, Rusregionbank, and East West United Bank.
- UnionPay cards issued by the Russian Standard Bank will cease to operate abroad from November 3, the Bank’s support service said.
- Restrictions were also introduced against the SPB Exchange. The exchange temporarily suspended trading in foreign stocks at its floor.
Officials
- Deputy Minister for Digital Development Oleg Kachanov was hit by US sanctions, together with Deputy Ministers of Trade and Industry Viktor Evtukhov and Alexey Besprozvannykh.
Science
- Sanctions were introduced against the Bauman Moscow Technical University, Scientific and Research Center of Cybernetics and Automation, Central Institute of Aviation Engine-building, and Baikov Institute of Metallurgy of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
