Russian diplomat differentiates between situation in Ukraine, Gaza
Vasily Nebenzya stressed that the Russian military uses high-precision weapons to target only military facilities or those infrastructure facilities that are linked with Kiev’s military capabilities, such as munitions depots and places where Ukrainian troops are deployed
UNITED NATIONS, October 31. /TASS/. Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya has pointed out the difference in the situation in Ukraine after nearly two years of the conflict and the Gaza Strip after only three weeks of combat operations.
"You are shouting about damage to Ukrainian cities and Russia’s alleged indiscriminate strikes. Please take the time to read about Ukrainian news on the internet or watch TV - you will see a lot about restaurants and nightlife in Kiev, Odessa, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk and other Ukrainian cities. Government and municipal bodies continue to work as usual practically everywhere. Transportation is operating, schools and hospitals are working, naturally, with the exception of those facilities that were damaged by Ukrainian air defense systems <…>. And this is nearly two years after the launch of the special military operation which is geared to stop the Kiev regime’s war against the people of Donbass," he said at a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine.
He stressed that the Russian military uses high-precision weapons to target only military facilities or those infrastructure facilities that are linked with Kiev’s military capabilities, such as munitions depots and places where Ukrainian troops are deployed, disguised as civil infrastructure facilities.
"And now look at what is going on in the Gaza Strip, which Israel has been trying to raze to the ground for only three weeks. You will see burned cities, hospitals and schools," he stressed.
"Compare these two realities and ask yourself: how many times have you condemned the steady elimination of Palestinians? How many times have you called a Security Council meeting on this? Have you ever supported at least one call for a ceasefire? We know the answer only too well here," he added.
