Russia remains in contact with Israel, signals need to find peaceful solution — Lavrov
Russia’s top diplomat told BelTA in an interview
MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. Russia fully remains in contact with Israel as it signals the need to resolve its conflict with Palestine peacefully, Russia’s top diplomat, Sergey Lavrov, told BelTA in an interview.
"We are sending signals to the Israelis, as we are maintaining full communication; our ambassador communicates with them on a regular basis as we signal the need to find a peaceful solution," Lavrov said.
The Russian foreign minister criticized what he said was a US reckless policy toward creating irritants and causing instability.
Tensions in the Middle East flared up again on October 7 when Hamas militants launched a surprise incursion into Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian movement described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel declared a total siege of Gaza and started carrying out strikes on the Palestinian enclave, as well as on certain areas in Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
