Russian forces seize control of major Ukrainian strongpoint in Zaporozhye — politician
According to Vladimir Rogov, the Russian military is taking more of the initiative in the Vremevka area
MELITOPOL, October 26. /TASS/. Russian forces have advanced in one of the areas of the Vremevka Bulge and also seized a major Ukrainian strongpoint near Novodarovka in the Zaporozhye Region, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the We Are Together with Russia movement, told TASS.
"There has been some success in Vremevka area. In the area of Priyutnoye and Novodarovka, we have advanced another 150 meters. Our forces seized a major enemy strongpoint in the Novodarovka area," Rogov said.
He said that following the loss of the strongpoint Ukrainian troops were driven into a ravine, which gave an additional advantage to Russian forces.
According to the politician, the Russian military is taking more of the initiative in the Vremevka area.
Ukrainian forces have been making unsuccessful attempts at an offensive since June 4. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on October 5 that Ukraine had lost more than 90,000 servicemen and more than 550 tanks over the past four months. Putin said on October 15 that the Ukrainian counteroffensive had failed, although Kiev was preparing new offensive operations in certain spots along the frontline.
