MINSK, October 26. /TASS/. The diversity of the world should be much wider than simply the antipodes of "garden" and "jungle," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, referring to the widely reported remarks of EU foreign affairs chief Josep Borrell, who infamously compared Europe to a garden while disparaging the rest of the world as akin to a jungle.

"Diversity should be much broader than a garden and a jungle. Mr. Borrell, who dreamed up this scheme, failed to mention the taiga, the tundra, or the sultry sands of the Central Asian deserts. So, I think we should correct such a narrow view of the universe," the senior diplomat said in Minsk at the plenary session of a high-level international conference titled "Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World."

Lavrov noted that the architecture of inseparable European security should be of an inclusive nature, taking into account the interests of all countries on the continent without exception, "literally from Lisbon to Vladivostok." "This architecture must ultimately become a solid foundation that promotes conflict prevention and resolution, the refusal of every country to make its territory available for the purpose of posing a threat to whomsoever, and the exclusion of any opportunity for non-regional players to forcibly dictate" their will on other nations, the foreign minister emphasized.
