Kiev regime’s attempts to obtain unilateral guarantees futile, top Russian diplomat says
Sergey Lavrov noted that, back in the spring of 2022, Russia displayed its readiness to reach an agreement
MINSK, October 26. /TASS/. Ukraine is seeking to obtain unilateral security guarantees from the West but such attempts are hopeless, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said.
"The Kiev regime’s attempts to obtain some type of unilateral security guarantees from its Western masters are futile. This also indicates that the [West’s] goal is to cut Russia and Belarus off from those agreements that the West hopes to shape on the continent in the future," he said in Minsk at the plenary session of a high-level international conference titled "Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World."
Lavrov noted that, back in the spring of 2022, Russia displayed its readiness to reach an agreement. "The principles [for reaching a settlement] had been agreed upon between negotiators from Moscow and Kiev. Yet those principles appeared insufficient to the US and London. And the Anglo-Saxons simply forbade [the Kiev regime to make any agreement]," he emphasized.
