Kremlin keeping tabs on 'complicated' situation in Kosovo
"However, it is no secret to anyone that various provocations are frequently staged against the Serbs. And, of course, there is always a lot of noise around these provocations," Dmitry Peskov noted
MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/. The Kremlin thinks that the exacerbated situation in Kosovo is troublesome and is closely monitoring how things unfold there, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"It [the situation] is extremely complicated. In Kosovo, we see the historically prejudiced attitude toward Serbs, a traditional approach towards them - unbalanced. The situation is indeed highly tense and potentially dangerous; we are monitoring it very closely," the Kremlin official said.
That said, he did not comment on the incident in the Banjska Orthodox Monastery in northern Kosovo and Metohija, explaining that he was not aware of the details of this particular incident. "However, it is no secret to anyone that various provocations are frequently staged against the Serbs. And, of course, there is always a lot of noise around these provocations," Peskov noted.
On September 24, during his address to the nation, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that representatives from the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR) had practically given carte blanche to Kosovar Prime Minister Albin Kurti to slaughter Serbs in the incident in northern Kosovo where three Serbian nationals had been murdered. The KFOR representatives were assisting the police of the self-proclaimed republic of Kosovo in an operation against local Serbs.
