Ukrainian counteroffensive not turning out as planned, says Kremlin
"The special military operation is continuing. It is obvious that the Ukrainian counteroffensive is not proceeding in the way it was conceived in Kiev," Dmitry Peskov added
MOSCOW, July 31. /TASS/. Ukraine's counteroffensive is not going according to plan, while the Kiev regime has failed to chalk up any successes at all, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"There are no successes for the Kiev regime. Moreover, the Kiev regime finds itself in a very, very difficult situation. The special military operation is continuing. It is obvious that the Ukrainian counteroffensive is not proceeding in the way it was conceived in Kiev," he pointed out.
Reporters also asked the Kremlin spokesman to comment on Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's statement that, "the war is returning to Russian territory." "No, hardly," he said when asked if this could be considered a success for the Kiev regime.
"It is obvious that the multibillion [dollars in] resources that have been handed over by NATO countries to the Kiev regime are in fact being spent inefficiently and aimlessly. This is also triggering serious questions in Western capitals and causing heartburn for the taxpayers of Western [governments]," Peskov said.
The Kremlin spokesman called the Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory "acts of desperation in the midst of failure." "Of course, the Kiev regime resorts to such tactics involving terrorist attacks. These terrorist strikes are aimed precisely at civilians, precisely at some social targets. This is disgusting and we will continue to fight against it. Of course, the Kiev regime does not need to talk about any successes," he pointed out.
