Putin does not plan to address nation following drone attack on Kremlin
Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian Security Council did not plan to hold an emergency session on Thursday as well
MOSCOW, May 4. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin does not intend to address the nation nor does the Russian Security Council plan to hold an emergency session following the drone attack on the Kremlin and Moscow will stay the course with its special military operation, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.
"It’s a ‘no’ to all three questions. No special address is planned, no emergency Security Council," the Kremlin official said replying to questions on the matter.
"According to the schedule, the president has a briefing with the permanent members of the Security Council tomorrow, on Friday. It has been planned, and it will take place. Of course, it is possible to presume with a high degree of certainty that this subject will be touched upon," Peskov said.
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, Ukraine attempted to deliver a drone strike on the official Kremlin residence of the Russian president, the presidential press service reported. Military and special services swiftly disabled two drones targeting the Kremlin. Putin was unharmed and continues to work according to his usual schedule.
The Kremlin views this incident as a premeditated terrorist attack and attempted assassination of the head of state. Russia reserves the right to take countermeasures wherever and whenever it deems fit, the press service pointed out.
