MOSCOW, April 13. /TASS/. Russia is receiving confirmations of attendance every day from African nations invited to participate in the second Russia-Africa summit, and Moscow expects to host all African leaders at the meeting, a senior Russian diplomat said on Thursday.
"At the start of my presentation I’d like to transmit a brief message from my colleagues at the secretariat for preparing the second Russia-Africa summit. Preparations for the second Russia-Africa summit, to be held in St. Petersburg in July, are in full swing. We are receiving confirmations of their participation from our African friends every day. We are expecting that all of the continent’s leaders will be attending the summit to have a joint discussion of the way forward for developing long-term strategic cooperation between Russia and Africa," Artur Lyukmanov, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Department of International Information Security, said at an international IT forum titled "Russia-Africa: Digital Technologies as a Driver of State Development and International Cooperation."
According to Lyukmanov, the agenda for the upcoming summit is currently being drafted in conjunction with Russia’s African partners and work is underway on the event’s summary documents. "The core idea of the summit is that Russia is ready to fully contribute to strengthening the sovereignty of African states. We plan to include in the agenda a discussion of issues related to the construction of the architecture for a new world order, as well as the formation of a fair multipolar world, and current problems of international security, including in the area of information security," he added.
The second Russia-Africa Summit and Economic Forum is scheduled to take place in St. Petersburg from July 26 to July 29. The inaugural summit was held in Sochi on October 22-24, 2019, under the slogan, "For Peace, Security and Development."
