The calls by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and other US officials for their fellow countrymen to immediately leave Russia against the background of the arrest of journalist Evan Gershkovich are hypocritical, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a commentary on Wednesday.

"The calls by Secretary of State Blinken and other officials for their fellow citizens staying in Russia to leave immediately are hypocritical and ambiguous. It is Washington that launched a full-on manhunt for Russians living or temporarily staying in the US and third countries who US intelligence and law enforcement agencies have claims against," the commentary said.
