Russian ambassador calls Canada’s new sanctions 'token gesture'
At a news conference with Shmygal earlier on Tuesday, Trudeau announced sanctions against 14 Russian individuals and 34 legal entities, including those linked with Wagner PMC, and nine companies linked with Belarus’ financial sector
OTTAWA, April 11. /TASS/. Canada’s new sanctions are nothing but another empty gesture, which will have no consequences for Russian nationals and companies, Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov told TASS on Tuesday.
"The sanctions are yet another token gesture tied to the arrival of a representative of the Kiev regime (Prime Minister Denis Shmygal - TASS)," he said. "There will be no consequences for our citizens and companies. It looks like bureaucrats in the [Canadian Prime Minister Justin] Trudeau cabinet are having an internal crisis: they want to bite Russia but cannot. Hence, this absurd sanctions nonsense."
At a news conference with Shmygal earlier on Tuesday, Trudeau announced sanctions against 14 Russian individuals and 34 legal entities, including those linked with Wagner PMC, and nine companies linked with Belarus’ financial sector. Apart from that, he promised another package of military assistance, including machineguns, submachine guns and bullets.
