CAIRO, April 11. /TASS/. The Washington Post’s reports about Cairo’s plans to supply missiles to Russia are not true, an Egyptian foreign ministry official said on Tuesday.

"What was published by the newspaper is a falsification, and is based on nothing," the Al-Qahera El Ekhbariya television channel quoted him as saying. "Egypt is following a balanced policy with all international sides and the key factors of this policy are peace, stability and development."

The Washington Post said on Monday, citing a US intelligence document dated February 17 that has recently been leaked onto the internet, that Egypt was allegedly plotting to manufacture up to 40,000 missiles for Russia. The document also mentioned plans to supply Russia with artillery shells and gunpowder.

Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said earlier on Tuesday that such reports in the Western mass media "look like another lame duck."
