Removing arms from Ukraine wasn’t most crucial issue at Russia-Belarus meeting — Kremlin

MOSCOW, April 6. /TASS/. The issue of removing weapons from Ukraine, which was raised by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, wasn’t the most important subject at the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State of Russia and Belarus, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.

"Look, what you are saying wasn’t the main subject of today’s meeting at all," he said, when asked to comment on the statement by Lukashenko. "The conversation largely revolved around the rich gamut of our allied relations and the implementation of the union’s development projects. The prime ministers of the two countries spoke about the fact that it was indeed possible to reach magnificent results over the past year, and that work will continue. That’s what was the highlight of today’s meeting," the spokesman said.

Earlier, Lukashenko said at the meeting of the Supreme State Council that weapons from Ukraine are flowing to Belarus through the regions of Russia, and several caches of them have already been discovered in Belarus. The Belarusian president also announced the completion of a joint operation of the FSB and the KGB to detain a terrorist. According to the Belarusian KGB, Russian national Alexey Kulikov was detained in Belarus on April 4. The Belarusian KGB said he was acting under the supervision of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry to plot terrorist attacks in Grodno, and one of the targets was the Russian Consulate General.
