China to work together with Russia to realize bilateral agreement on relations — diplomat

Mao Ning reiterated that Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a successful state visit to Russia in March, during which the heads of state outlined the main tracks for the development of bilateral relations until 2030

BEIJING, April 6. /TASS/. The Chinese government, in concert with Russia, intends to implement a major agreement of the two presidents on the development of bilateral relations, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning said in comments on a New York Times article on Thursday.

Earlier, the New York Times reported that Fu Cong, China’s Ambassador to the European Union, said prior to talks with French President Emmanuel Macron and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen that critics had misinterpreted the statement of the Russian and Chinese leaders on cooperation. According to him, statements about ‘boundless’ friendship between Moscow and Beijing are "nothing but rhetoric."

"China is ready together with Russia to fully implement the important consensus of the two heads of state and contribute to the further development of bilateral relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and cooperation in this new era," she pointed out.

On March 20-22, Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Russia. On the first day, he had a four-and-a-half-hour-long one-on-one conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the next day he spent about six hours at talks in various formats in the Kremlin. The sides signed two statements at the end of the visit and hailed it as a success.
